Laser Hair Removal Leicester
Tired of shaving, getting waxed or finding the best hair removal creams? It is time for you to try IPL Hair Removal.
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light technology and is a fast, mess and pain free solution to the removal of unwanted body hair. Hair follicles are slowly destroyed by the IPL device that uses a dedicated wavelength to target unwanted hairs at the root.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal treatment is a popular method for achieving long-term hair reduction in various areas of the body. Here is a detailed guide on IPL hair removal treatment:
Understanding IPL Laser Hair Removal
IPL hair removal uses broad-spectrum light to target the melanin in hair follicles, heating them and disrupting their growth cycle. Over time, with multiple sessions, this can lead to a significant reduction in hair growth.
Preparation: Before undergoing IPL treatment, it’s essential to:
- Avoid tanning or excessive sun exposure.
- Shave the treatment area a day before to prepare the skin.
- Cleanse the skin to remove any lotions, makeup, or deodorant.
During the Treatment: The procedure typically involves:
- Wearing protective eyewear.
- A cooling gel applied to the skin to enhance comfort and protect the skin.
- The IPL device emitting pulses of light over the treatment area.
Post Laser Hair Removal Treatment Care:
After the session, it’s important to:
- Avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, or activities that may irritate the skin.
- Moisturise the treated area as needed.
- Avoid plucking or waxing between sessions, as the hair needs to fall out naturally.
Number of Sessions: Multiple sessions are usually required for optimal results, typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart. This is because hair grows in different cycles, and IPL is most effective on actively growing hair follicles.
Potential Side Effects: While IPL is generally safe, potential side effects may include:
- Temporary redness or swelling.
- Lightening or darkening of the skin.
- Rarely, blistering or scarring (more common with improper treatment or darker skin tones).
Suitability and Considerations: IPL is most effective on individuals with lighter skin tones and darker hair. Those with very light or gray hair may not see significant results.
The Hair Growth cycle can be split into three phases: Anagen (growth), Catagen (transition), and Telogen (rest). As hair grows in cycles (out of phase with each other, it is important to continue your IPL Laser Hair Removal until each hair has gone through its full growth and resting cycle to ensure all hairs are treated. You’ll need regular sessions to keep hair from regrowing.
How often sessions are needed varies for each person. A client may need an IPL treatment session to remove their facial hair every 4 weeks, and for body hair every 6 to 8 weeks. Results may be seen within 12 weeks. Please Note that there is no guarantee that IPL laser hair removal will get rid of all the hair.
IPL Laser hair removal works best on people with lighter pale skin and darker hair. This is due to the lasers wavelength being able to only target dark hair with contrasting pale skin surrounding the area of hair growth.
Tanned skin or dark skin is not suitable for IPL Hair Removal Therapy. Suntanned skin needs to fade down before your IPL treatment commences. The same applies to body hair that has been bleached by the sun. Light hair will not be targeted by the IPL Laser device.
